Chunmeng Xu

I am a Ph.D. student in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

My research interests widely cover high voltage engineering, electrical insulation and switchgear design. I’m currently focusing on innovating novel fast mechanical switches to protect medium-voltage direct-current (MVDC) power systems used in a broad range of applications like distributed energy resource (DER) integrations, electrified ships and aircraft, EV charging stations, energy storage sites and data centers.

I received my B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation in 2016 from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China; and my M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2019. I’m currently working as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Plasma and Dielectrics Laboratory led by Professor Lukas Graber.
