Radiological Science and Engineering Laboratory

The Radiological Science and Engineering Laboratory is the Nuclear and Radiological Engineering and Medical Physics (NRE/MP) Program’s newest contribution to advancing nuclear and medical physics research methods.  This nearly 6000 square foot laboratory space was completed in the basement of the Gilbert Hillhouse Boggs Building on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in 2013 through support from the Georgia Tech NRE/MP Program and the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering.

As an integral part of the NRE/MP Program, our aim is to be a premier academic research, development, testing, and evaluation facility in nuclear engineering, radiological engineering, medical physics, and non-proliferation and nuclear safeguards related studies.

Invention Studio at Georgia Tech

The Invention Studio is a student-run makerspace open to the Georgia Tech community. It is staffed by Prototyping Instructors, student volunteers who are on hand to train you and help with your projects. Use of the Studio is free for all students, faculty and staff of Georgia Tech, regardless of year, major, or prior experience.

The Invention Studio is unique in that students are encouraged to “own” the space. Prototyping Instructors, or PIs, lead other students in the use and maintenance of the space, ensuring that the resources remain available to those who wish to use them. We promote an ethic of responsibility, safety, and community ownership so that students can explore and develop unconventional ideas in a supporting environment.
