Scholarships

The scholarships listed on this page are only applicable to the GT-Shenzhen campus. GT-Shenzhen scholarships do not transfer to the Atlanta campus if a student decides to spend a semester at GT-Atlanta.

Students cannot receive both NACA Scholarship and Coulter Scholarship. Students can receive both Merit-Based Scholarship (up to three terms) and Coulter Scholarship (one term only).

NACA Scholarships

We are pleased to offer a number of $2,500 scholarships, sponsored by the National Association of Chinese-Americans (NACA), to encourage students to switch campus to GT-Shenzhen campus to study for one semester or more. The purpose is to provide assistance to students who were not originally from mainland China, an opportunity to experience Shenzhen and to learn about the Chinese culture, as well as to increase diversity on the GT-Shenzhen campus.

To be eligible, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

(i) The applicant was not born in Mainland China;

(ii) The applicant is a current GT-Atlanta or GT-Lorraine graduate student or BS/MS program student in good academic and disciplinary standing;

(iii) The student’s current GPA is 3.25 or above.

Interested students should apply in the semester prior to the semester of exchange at GT-Shenzhen.

Specific application deadlines are:

June 1 for fall semester NACA Scholarship

November 1 for spring semester NACA Scholarship

March 15 for summer semester NACA Scholarship

Applicants should submit a 1-page application (in .pdf format) to the program administrator by the application deadline.

Your application should include:

(i) Your name, GTID, email, phone, major, advisor;

(ii) your country of birth and your current citizenship;

(iii) a statement of why you are interested in the scholarship and what you hope to gain from the study abroad experience.


Coulter Scholarships

To assist Georgia Tech US citizen students to take advantage of the GT – Shenzhen graduate program, the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation is pleased to offer a number of Coulter Scholarships to GT graduate or BS/MS program students to enroll or switch campus to the GT-Shenzhen graduate program for one or more semesters. The Coulter Scholarship provides a one-time $2,500 assistance to each qualified applicant to offset their GT – Shenzhen tuition & fees.

To be eligible, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

(i) The applicant is a U.S. citizen;

(ii) The applicant is a GT graduate student or BS/MS program student in good academic and disciplinary standing; this includes newly admitted graduate students;

(iii) The student’s current GPA is 3.25 or above.

Interested students should apply in the semester prior to the semester of study at GT-Shenzhen.

Specific application deadlines are:

June 1 for fall semester Coulter Scholarship

November 1 for spring semester Coulter Scholarship

March 15 for summer semester Coulter Scholarship

Applicants should submit a 2-page essay (in .pdf format) to the program administrator by the application deadline.

The essay should include:

(i) Your name, GTID, email, phone, major, advisor;

(ii) a description of your unique characteristics and capabilities, outstanding achievements, leadership, service, etc,

(iii) a statement of why you are interested in the scholarship and what you hope to gain from the study abroad experience.


The scholarships below are quoted in the Chinese currency RMB. You can visit this page to obtain the exchange rate between RMB and the currency of your interest. As of 10/15/2019, the exchange rate between USD and RMB is approximately 1 USD = 7.07 RMB.

Merit-Based Scholarships

We are pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of merit-based GT-Shenzhen scholarships in the form of partial tuition waivers at three different levels:

  • Level A Scholarship at a total of 30,000 RMB, distributed over 3 semesters at 10,000 RMB per semester.
  • Level B Scholarship at a total of 21,000 RMB, distributed over 3 semesters at 7,000 RMB per semester.
  • Level C Scholarship at a total of 12,000 RMB, distributed over 3 semesters at 4,000 RMB per semester.

Eligibility: All incoming (newly admitted) GT-Shenzhen MS ECE program students are eligible for consideration.
Selection criteria:

  • Ranking during your undergraduate studies. If you have enrolled in a graduate program, please submit your graduate ranking information as well. All original official ranking certificates and transcripts must be received by our Atlanta office before you can be considered; see Contact Us page.
  • The reputation of your undergraduate university (and graduate university, if applicable), as well as the rigor of your curriculum.
  • TOEFL, GRE scores and GPA.
  • Once enrolled in the GT MS ECE program, the merit-based scholarship can be discontinued if the recipient is found to have violated the Georgia Tech Student Code of Conduct or if the student fails to maintain a 3.5 GPA (out of 4.0) in the preceding GT semester.

Scholarship decisions will be made approximately 3 months before the start of each term.
Scholarship recipients will be asked to assist the GT-Shenzhen office with various administrative tasks.


Financial Assistance to Tianjin University Graduate Students

The GT-Shenzhen MS ECE program is offered in close partnership with Tianjin University which provides management oversight, academic support as well as logistical support for the program. In appreciation for Tianjin University’s partnership, all currently enrolled Tianjin University graduate students who are also GT-Shenzhen MSECE program degree-seeking students will each receive 5,000 RMB per semester scholarship for up to 3 semesters. This scholarship is only applicable when the student studies at the Shenzhen campus. Such jointly enrolled students (typically first year MS students) must first receive permission from their Tianjin University supervisors in order to study in Shenzhen, and their number is limited to 20 students a year. In addition, these students are also eligible to compete for merit-based GT-Shenzhen scholarships.
