This review article lead by Daniel Vallejo and Joe Corstvet entitled “Triboelectric nanogenerators: Low-cost power supplies for improved electrospray ionization” published in the International Journal of Mass Spectrometry highlights the fundamentals of ESI driven by DC power supplies, its contrasting qualities to triboelectric nanogenerator power supplies, and its applications to three distinct fields of research: forensics, metabolomics, and protein structure analysis.
Congratulations Joe on a successful candidacy exam!
Joe Corstvet is the newest minted Ph.D. candidate from the Fernandez group! Congratulations again Joe, we know you’re going to be an amazing success
Celebrating National Postdoc Appreciation Week
The Fernandez group grabbed a group lunch to celebrate National Postdoc Appreciation Week 2023! Thanks to our postdocs for all the work they do!
Daniel’s Collaboration with the Robert C. William Museum of Papermaking is Published Digitally
Postdoctoral Fellows Nasreen Khan and Daniel Vallejo spearhead research for cultural heritage objects at Georgia Tech. Collaborating with MSE professor Mark Losego, The Mill Fellow Blake Moore, and MSE Postdoc Nicolas Somers to analyze fibers from papermaking artifacts in the Robert C. Visiting scholar Francesc Joins the Lab
Francesc Labad Roig, a Graduate student at the Universitat de Barcelona, from Barcelona, Spain joins the group! He comes from the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) under the supervision of Dra. Sandra Pérez and Dr. Enric Vázquez. He will be here for almost six months (July-December) in order to use ion mobility instrumentation to separate and analyze very persistent and very mobile (vPvM) substances such as melamine or PFAs from urban waters (mainly groundwater) from Atlanta. The main instrumentation used will be the Synapt G2S coupled to a Q-ToF. This work is in the frame of the UPWATER project. Francesc is enjoying an FPI 2019 grant from the Spanish ministry.
