Dmitry Leontyev

Dmitry Leontyev earned his B.S. in Chemistry and B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2019. During his undergraduate career he participated in two internships at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) working on DART-MS and GC-MS with Dr. Ed Sisco and was an ORISE fellow at the FDA, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition working on analyzing adulterants in dietary supplements using LC-MS/MS with Dr. Rahul Pawar. He also has bioinformatics and data analysis experience from his work on detecting variants in microbial communities using metagenomic assembly graphs with Dr. Mihai Pop. His professional interests are focused on using mass spectrometry to tackle various problems including using mass spectrometry imaging to study lipid changes associated with Traumatic Brain Injury. In his spare time, Dmitry enjoys going to the gym and playing with his cat Ziggy.
