Elisabeth Schwiebert earned her B.A. in Chemistry from Grinnell College in 2021, studying under the mentorship of Dr. Erick Leggans and assisting with his project on the medicinal potential of specific terpenes within the antibiotic landscape. Following graduation, she accepted a fellowship position within the Clinical Chemistry Branch at the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention with Dr. Grace Jairo where she used gas chromatography mass spectrometry to evaluate the effect of FDA regulations on trans fatty acids in commercially available food products. While in pursuit of her Ph.D., her research currently focuses on leveraging the capabilities of high-resolution liquid chromatography mass spectrometry in analyzing the metabolomics of early-stage high-grade serous ovarian cancer among BRCA1/2-mutation carriers in various biospecimens.
In her free time, Elisabeth enjoys playing soccer and running as well as down time inside curled up with her cat, Lennon.
