
Eric Gier earned dual B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering and Chemistry in 2019 from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He continued his studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned an M.S. in Analytical Chemistry in 2021 as a member of the Fernández Lab. Following this, Eric served as the Deputy Lab Chief of the Air Force Petroleum Lab at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. In 2024, he returned to the Fernández Lab to pursue a Ph.D., supported by the Air Force Institute of Technology’s Civilian Institutions Program. His research focuses on refining collisional cross section measurements in multipass cyclic ion mobility experiments and exploring the epilipidome with a focus on traumatic brain injury.
In his free time, Eric enjoys traveling, playing golf, and honing his public speaking skills through Toastmasters International.
