I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM). My research interests include robot perception, robot learning, and autonomous navigation. I lead the Lu’s Navigation and Autonomous Robotics (Lunar) Lab, where we develop autonomous systems for ground, aerial, and space applications. Currently, we are most interested in
- Physics-informed robot learning (dynamics learning, RL, IL)
- Multi-robot active simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM)
- Multi-modal 3D scene understanding, foundation models for 3D perception
I received a B.S. in Automation from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2013 and an M.S. in Control Engineering from Beihang University in 2016. After that, I completed my M.S. and Ph.D. in Robotics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2021 and 2022, respectively, advised by Ryan Eustice, Jessy Grizzle and Maani Ghaffari. Before joining Georgia Tech, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Graduate Aerospace Laboratories of the California Institute of Technology (GALCIT) from 2022 to 2023, working with Soon-Jo Chung and Yisong Yue. I was named a Rising Star in Data Science in 2022 and received the IROS Best Paper Award on Agri-Robotics Finalist in 2023.
