Our multidisciplinary research team includes specialists in sustainable development, satellite data analysis, transportation and infrastructure engineering, remote sensing and information technology, econometrics, energy and food security, community partnership-building. We also bring expertise in U.S., Japanese, European, and Global South affairs.

Faculty Researchers

Brian Woodall (International Affairs) is an expert in a range of issues involving sustainable development, energy security, institutional and policy analysis, and Japanese studies. Mariel Borowitz (International Affairs), who served a two-year Policy Analyst stint at NASA, specializes in international space policy issues and is utilizing this project to explore the utility of satellite data for sustainability-related research. Kari Watkins (Civil & Environmental Engineering), an expert in transportation planning, directs a study abroad 2 program on sustainable transport in The Netherlands. Adjo Amekudzi-Kennedy (Civil & Environmental Engineering) is an expert on sustainable and resilient infrastructure, has conducted numerous studies on disaster mitigation, and deep knowledge of the Global South. Prerna Singh (Civil & Environmental Engineering) specializes in planning for and building resilience to disasters in a range of international urban contexts. Shatakshee Dongdhe (Economics) brings expertise on the causes and consequences of inequality and social justice (including food insecurity), and Russell Clark (Computer Science) is an expert on remote sensing technology, mobile development, and networking. Ruthie Yow is Service Learning and Partnerships Specialist at the Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain, while Levar Smith (Political Science, Morehouse College) is an expert in African studies.
