Important Dates – Fall 2025

Important dates

GT academic calendar: http://www.registrar.gatech.edu/calendar/

GT final exam schedule:   http://www.registrar.gatech.edu/students/exams.php

    • Monday, September 1 (Labor Day): Official school holiday.
    • Progress report deadline (for ENGL 1101/1102): October 6. Have a major assignment graded (though not necessarily returned) by this point. Progress report grades are S (satisfactory: A, B, C) and U (unsatisfactory: D, F).
    • Monday, October 6 and Tuesday, October 7 (Fall Recess): No classes are held on these days.
    • Final drop deadline (students drop with a “W”): October 25.
    • Day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday, November 26): No classes are held on the day before Thanksgiving. The spirit of the “no classes” policy implies that no work should be due on that day, as well.
    • ENGL 1101/1102 Portfolio Preparation Days. The equivalent of the final week of class (that is, three MWF classes or two TuTh classes, including the Final Instructional Day) should be devoted to preparing the final portfolio. Plan on working on the introductory reflective essay and reflections through activities and workshops. Classes should meet–this is structured class time, not free time for students to work on their own.
    • Thursday, November 27 – Friday, November 28 (Thanksgiving break): Official school holiday.
    • Final Instructional Class Days (December 1-2): See Common Policies. Only projects or assignments that are on the syllabus from the beginning of the semester can be due during this time.
    • Reading Periods (December 3, all day; December 4, 8am-2:40pm; December 9, 8am-2:40pm): See Common Policies. No assignments may be due during these periods.
    • For ENGL 1101/1102, portfolios are due on Canvas during the final exam period scheduled for your particular sections.
    • Grade submission deadline (WCP): Sunday, December 14, by noon.
