Prior to the lab shutting down in August of 2023, we were always appreciative of self-motivated, highly-capable individuals who wished to contribute. Members of the lab typically held one of the following positions. In order to apply for one of these positions, candidates were asked to carefully follow the directions below.

• Undergraduate Student Researcher (current Georgia Tech student)
  • Minimum requirements for consideration
    • completed first year of your undergraduate degree
    • GPA >= 3.5
    • commitment of 8 hours per week to the lab
    • commitment to work for >= 2 terms in the lab
  • A graduate student in the lab must agree to be your mentor. This is typically the hardest requirement to meet, since graduate students are very busy and being a mentor is a serious commitment of time and effort. You will need to be convincing and persistent.
  • Lab membership is always contingent upon positive evaluations by your graduate student mentor and Prof. Kemp. Should you be offered a position, the 1st term will serve as a trial period with a stringent evaluation at the end of the term.

• Undergraduate Student Researcher (student at another university)
  • If you are a student at another university, your best option is to apply to a summer program like the SURE Program in Robotics ( http://www.sure.robotics.gatech.edu/ ).
• Master’s Student Researcher
  • We do not respond to inquiries from applicants who have not already been admitted to an appropriate master’s program at Georgia Tech.
  • The lab typically does not fund master’s student researchers. We do offer research credit, when appropriate.
  • To become a member of the lab, a master’s student needs to find a PhD student willing to serve as a mentor.

• PhD Student Researcher
  • We very rarely respond to inquiries from applicants who have not already been admitted to an appropriate PhD program at Georgia Tech.
  • Currently, all of the PhD students in the lab are in the Robotics PhD program.
  • We recommend that you apply to the Robotics PhD program through one of the participating schools. You can find more information at http://phdrobotics.gatech.edu/requirements .
  • Once admitted to an appropriate PhD program, feel free to contact Prof. Kemp and other lab members.
• Postdoctoral Researcher
  • We do not currently have any funded positions available. If you have your own funding, feel free to send your CV along with other pertinent information to Prof. Kemp and other lab members.
• Visiting Faculty
  • We typically do not host visiting faculty.
