VIP Notebooks
Students use VIP Notebooks (lab notebooks, design notebooks) to document all of their work, including meeting notes, interactions with teammates, to-do lists, dates to-do items were completed, progress on assigned tasks, problems encountered, how they tried to solve the problems, reflections (what worked well, what didn’t), and references to other documentation (wiki entries, code repositories, etc). When looking at a VIP notebook, an instructor should be able to see all of the work and interactions for the entire semester.

Some VIP teams require end-of-semester reports:
Student Report Template from University of Hawaii. Sections include abstract; introduction; design and fabrication; experimental results; discussion; conclusion; acknowledgements.
