Delta

Delta Air Lines is Atlanta’s hometown airline and has a strong history of supporting Georgia Tech students through its undergraduate co-op, undergraduate internship, and graduate internship programs

Delta has several intern programs for students who are interested in revenue management. The Operation Research – Data Science group typically supports one or two interns a year at the undergraduate or graduate levels. This group has a preference for hiring interns who are about one year away from graduation, as many of their interns receive permanent offers to work at the company after graduation.

The Commercial Development and Innovation (CDI) department is also initiating an internship program, in part due to the success of one of its very first interns – none other than GT graduate Tony Yaacoub! Tony received his PhD in industrial and systems engineering at Georgia Tech under the advisement of simulation expert Dave Goldsman. As part of an internship program, Tony worked on a project to explore how to dynamically block seats so that there were rows available for families to sit together. This project also helped support Delta’s decision to block middle seats at the beginning of the pandemic. As CDI looks to expand their internship program, they are particularly interested in working with students who can bring reinforcement learning, deep learning and other cutting-edge ideas into the organization.

In addition to company-wide showcase and networking events, Delta interns and co-ops are eligible for generous flight benefits giving them the opportunity to explore Delta’s vast global network.
