Anchorage Meeting June 12-13, 2024

The next meeting of ATL@GT is open for members only and will be held in Anchorage, Alaska, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on June 12 and 8:30 AM to 11 AM on June 13. A light breakfast will be served at 8:30 AM and the meeting will start at 9:00 AM each day. Wednesday evening we will have a networking event at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Recognizing that several ATL@GT members are traveling with their families to this event, the networking event on Wednesday evening will be open both to ATL@GT members as well as their guests. Thursday morning we are tentatively planning to tour part of the Alaska Airlines’ operations at Anchorage Airport; this event is only open to ATL@GT members. We will ask you to RSVP closer to the event.

The meeting location will be held at a training classroom at Alaska Airline’s hangar near Anchorage Airport. The address is:

Networking activity on Wednesday evening (open to ATL@GT members and their guests):

Wednesday, June 12th, 5:00-9:30 PM. Tour, reception, and dinner at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. During the networking event, you will have an opportunity to visit six authentic life-sized Native dwellings and learn about the traditional lifeways of Iñupiaq, St. Lawrence Island Yupik, Athabascan, and many other peoples. After the tour, we will have a reception followed by a buffet dinner. This networking event is open to ATL@GT members as well as their guests. Please arrive promptly by 5:00 PM as the tour, which takes about an hour and 15 minutes, will begin at 5:15 PM.

The Heritage Center is located about 7 miles or about 20 minutes from downtown Anchorage. You will need to drive or take a taxi/ride-hailing service to get to the networking event location.

Networking activity on Thursday (open only to ATL@GT members):

Thursday morning we will meet at the the Alaska Airlines’ hangar. A light breakfast will be provided at 8:30 and the technical session will begin at 9 AM. After the technical morning session, we are tentatively planning to take a tour of Alaska Airline’s cargo facility and hangar. On the tour you will get to see the incredible variety of aircraft at Anchorage Airport (especially old heritage planes and cargo jumbos) and see firsthand why Anchorage is one of the world’s busiest cargo hubs in the world. The tour will conclude with a drive around Lake Hood, the world’s largest seaplane base, and participants will have the option of having lunch (on their own expense) at a local restaurant – the Fancy Moose Lounge along the shores of the busiest float plane airport in the world.

Hotels:

In collaboration with Alaska Airlines, ATL@GT has reserved a block of rooms at the Hotel Captain Cook in downtown Anchorage. Information on how to book a room within this block will be sent by email. Note that up to 4 individuals may stay in rooms that have two double beds. An additional fee of $25 per person applies for occupancies of 3 or more.
