About Tapping & the Havening Techniques®
Tapping & Havening are sensory based self-regulation tools that work by offering sensory input/stimulation to one’s body. As a mind-body or body-mind tool, Tapping works especially well for those who enjoy exploring how stress shows up in the body as a physical sensation. It can also be a great introductory tool into meditation for those who want to meditate, but are finding it challenging to quiet the mind. It is also a helpful tool to manage Relaxation Induced Anxiety (RIA) so that we can move into a more meditative state.
The simple Tapping protocol, which integrates Havening, that has matured on this Georgia Tech campus is easy to learn and easy to practice. As specific spots and nerve endings on our head, face and easily accessible upper body parts are stimulated with Tapping or gentle applied touch, the stress response in the brain calms down, leading to a cascade of shift in the nervous system and body chemistry. This generally allows the whole body to gently shift into a better balanced state. Originally having been appreciated and spread amongst the trauma relief community, recent studies of Evidence Based Clinical EFT Tapping validates the experience of relaxation and stress relief by showing a 38~43% drop in cortisol after one hour Tapping.
