The goal of the team this year is to develop a working prototype that meets numerous specifications. Now that the device has been developed and tested, the team plans to travel to Haiti in May 2018 for the “pilot install” that consist of installing 25 solar power devices. This is the third year ORS has sponsored a Haiti Solar team, or as Ron Harley coined it, Thing in a Hut team! Over the last 3 years, the ORS Haiti team members have stay focused and committed to the project so that people living in huts with no power source can power a phone and a light. Thanks to Ron Harley’s vision, Frank Lamberts dedication and hard-working ORS students, this project is on the way to implementation with a plan for sustainability. Funding to get all this done has come from various sources and we are so proud of the most recent award.
